2 years, 11 months ago There is no ETR from Cogent to repair the fiber cuts. We have made progress in procuring connectivity to other providers and we're cautiously optimistic that we'll be able to restore connectivity through another provider over the coming hours
2 years, 11 months ago There is no ETR yet from Cogent. The work day in Ireland starts in 1.5 hours so we're going to try to get additional connections to providers who are not affected by the fiber cuts
2 years, 11 months ago Background & Latest: ServerGrove relies Cogent for Internet connectivity at the ServerGrove Dublin datacenter. Cogent uses two redundant and geographically diverse submarine (underwater) fiber cables in the Irish Sea to connect Dublin to the UK. The primary submarine fiber was taken offline for scheduled maintenance and repairs. Unfortunately at around 5:30PM EST the backup submarine fiber experienced a fault or cut. This double fiber-cut has left Cogent's network in Dublin and Belfast cut off from the UK and the Internet. The latest news that we've been told by Cogent is that the fiber company has located the fault and a repair ship has been dispatched to begin repairs. There is currently no ETR. We can't do anything except wait for the fiber repairs to be completed. We are currently working to provision additional connections and capacity through another provider, however it is currently night-time in Dublin and we have to wait until normal business hours before those connections can be completed. Email and DNS services for VPS customers are unaffected by this outage. VPS & shared hosting services in Dublin are inaccessible. This has been a very difficult few hours for everyone and we appreciate your patience and understanding. We are extremely sorry for the long duration of this connectivity outage and the problems that it is causing. Please know that we are doing our best to keep you updated and we will continue to do so. 2 years, 11 months ago Cogent crews have located a partial fault with the fiber between Ireland and the UK and repair crews have been dispatched. There is no ETR from Cogent yet. Separately, we are hoping to turn up connectivity through alternate carriers over the coming few hours.
2 years, 11 months ago Cogent's fiber crews are still working to isolate and repair the fault. There is no ETR yet. Because the problem is outside of our datacenter, there is nothing that we can do other than wait for Cogent to restore service.

2 years, 11 months ago Update from Cogent: "Our fiber provider has confirmed a major outage on their network. There is no ETR yet. Due to the coincidence of this outage with an ongoing emergency planned work to repair the submarine cable on the irish sea from our second provider (maintenance reference HD5938830), our Dublin and Belfast markets are isolated. We will share any update as son as we get it from our providers."

3 years ago Information Further investigation shows that the packet loss is limited to our DNS servers which are being attacked. VPS and shared hosting accounts should not see packet loss. Customers may experience DNS resolution issues or email bouncebacks as we work to mitigate this attack

3 years ago The connectivity issues are being caused by ongoing multi-gigabit DDOS attacks. We are actively working to block the attacks. Connectivity should be stable at the moment but there may be periods of packet loss throughout the day as we continue to work.
